Established in 2001, the .NAME generic domain extension is the only one planned for personal sites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At first, only third-level registrations were possible, so if you planned to secure john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already purchased third-level domains remained active.

Through our firm, you can acquire your dot NAME domain for a period between one and ten years. You will have the opportunity to switch the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our company if you receive its EPP transfer key from the current domain provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no special requirements on who can secure a dot NAME domain, but in order to preserve the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
