Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one e-mail, but to appear as being sent from a different one, frequently with the objective to fraud the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a unique record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide have it. The record contains all of the mail servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an email address within the domain. When an email is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message will not be forwarded and it will be removed. If you employ this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam that seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

When you host your domain names in a hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mail addresses for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in a separate section where you can see which domain names are already secured. For the ones that are not, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection solution and set up a lot of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains have our MX records. The last mentioned solution is the most secure one, and you can use it when we handle the email addresses for your domains and do not use a different email supplier. The newly created records will be activated within one day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is featured with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting service, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you are able to activate the service without difficulty for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a very user-friendly interface, so you do not need to be tech-savvy to secure your e-mail addresses. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and right after that the updated record will be activated for the domain that you've picked. As an extra option, we will also give you the ability to limit your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes further by allowing email messages to be sent only if the domain name involved features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain have to be taken care of by us and not by a different supplier. Doing so you will get even superior control and there won't be any chance for anyone to fake your emails for malicious purposes.
